Manager, Quality Assurance ( NDT )

We offer a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion.   Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an NDT Manager for the Aerojet Rocketdyne Los Angeles site. This position is responsible for directing the daily activities related to execution of the NDT work centers. This supervisory position is responsible for the performance of all 1st shift NDT personnel in supporting all current and future program needs, accomplishing results through non-exempt and exempt employees. This position monitors work operations on a daily basis and actively assists or provides direction to direct reports.   This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each) This position supervises the day to day activities in the Aerojet Rocketdyne Los Angeles site Non-Destructive Testing work centers on 1st shift. This includes Penetrant Inspection, Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing and Eddy Current Testing.   50% - Directing daily work assignments within the NDT work centers to meet quality, cost, and schedule commitments. Provide guidance and assistance to subordinates in meeting schedules.   20% - Maintaining work center readiness and compliance (UAW overtime records, Delmia MES, calibrated equipment, NDT logs and systems, NDT daily checks, TPM).   10% - Coordinate between shifts and manufacturing work centers to ensure hardware velocity.   10% - Responsible for assigned department budget.   10% - Accountable for personnel performance evaluations in accordance with company policies and procedures. Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline and at least nine (9) years of related experience in Quality/Manufacturing/NDT processes (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).   Successful candidates will have direct experience in NDT. Preferred candidates will also have experience in reading and interpreting drawings and engineering specifications and have a very good understanding of Quality processes. The ability to adapt in a dynamically changing environment is also a necessary skill for this position. Experience working in a bargaining unit environment is also desired.    US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.   Additional Requirements and PreferredQualifications: Hands-on working experience in a manufacturing environment and a corresponding understanding of manufacturing processes is essential. Experience with auditing practices and Process Certification is desired. A demonstrated proficiency with a variety of NDT inspection techniques and equipment along with a working knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation is required. Knowledge of industry NDT standards (ex. NAS410, ASTM 1742, ASTM 1417, ASTM 1444, AMS-STD-2154, etc...) is requisite. Must have experience in at least two of the following NDT methods: Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Fluid Penetrant Inspection (FPI), Eddy Current (ET), or Magnetic Particle (MT). Certifications: The ideal candidate would have multiple Level 3 certifications; RT, UT and FPI preferred. At least one Level 2 certification is required. Candidate must meet requirements of NAS-410. Strong leadership, problem solving and written/verbal communication skills are required. Must have the ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to a variety of situations (technical, organizational, etc.). Experience with MS Office products is required. Candidates should possess the skills to coach/mentor individuals to work effectively under time and budget constraints. Must consistently meet commitments. Ability to motivate and inspire change. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
